RHS Wisley: Butterflies in the glasshouse
With the cold weather outside, RHS Wisley have the perfect antidote to the cold, with the main glasshouse given over to tropical butterflies. Butterflies in the Glasshouse gives visitors an oportunity to escape to the heat of the tropics and see the butterflies close up, many are happy to let visitors get quite close to them, or even sit on visitors hands, heads or colourful clothing! The exhibition has a strong emphasis on the protection of British butterflies with an area given over to Butterfly Conservation. Display boards give hints and tips on how to attract butterflies to your garden and volunteers from Butterfly Conservation are on hand to share their expertise.
